Technical Assessment Specialist – WBI Home Warranty Ltd. (Surrey)

Full Time | Burnaby Office

Hybrid Role (Report Writing and Team Collaboration in office in Surrey, BC and Technical Assessments completed throughout the Vancouver, Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley Areas, as well as some travel throughout BC and Alberta as required)  

  • Responsibilities
    • Perform technical assessments on new homes to determine if defects are warrantable under the new home warranty acts and regulations
    • Prepare and complete clear, concise and professional reports on items viewed during technical assessments to assist with bringing closure to disputed and/or claimed items
    • Provide technical opinions to claims handlers
    • Manage files to ensure that claims are assessed in a timely and strategic manner
    • Build and maintain relationships with Builder members
    • Attend various industry functions to stay current with industry developments and strengthen relationships with Builder members
  • Qualifications and Knowledge
    • Core knowledge of the stages and components of single-family home construction
    • Core knowledge of the stages and components of multi family home construction
    • Core knowledge of regulatory and/or legislative requirements relating to the construction industry, such as BC Building Code, Residential Construction Performance Guide, etc.
    • Core knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in commercial, industrial and residential building construction, alteration or repair
    • Keen interest in the residential building industry
    • Minimum of 2 years construction industry experience is required
    • Valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle are required
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
    • Knowledge of new home warranty or insurance products and services is an asset, but is not required
    • Construction related certificates/tickets are an asset, but are not required
    • Second language such as Punjabi, Hindi, Mandarin/Cantonese is an asset, but is not required

    • Ability to prepare clear, concise reports

  • Compensation
    • Salary starting at $65,000.00+ annually, depending on experience and technical qualifications
    • Mileage/vehicle expense reimbursements (where applicable)
    • 3 weeks paid vacation
